Combine with $10 off $50 AMEX offer for a slicker deal!
Thanks for the heads up. Between this and free shipping using shop runner, it is a solid deal.

What is the logic behind not making these waterproof? Doesn't seem to make any sense.

Also, anyone who has these, how do they do in the wet despite not being specified as waterproof?

I've had these boots for work for about a year now, the heel part wore out about 5 months in. From 40 hour work week walking about 4 miles a day. Biggest criticism is these definitely need the insole switched out. Once you do that, they are more than comfortable.

What are tactical boots good for?
There is a model amongst all the tacti-cool boots that's a viable work boot/shoe (composite toe, non-slip sole).
FWIW, I just bought (today is first day wearing) the shoe model that has a protective toe (composite). It also just so happened to come in wide sizing. Based on a couple hours of wear it seems like these are going to be great once I break in the heel area.

Let me share with you a tale as old as the sands of time...

During the first war there was a man, though not any man. This gentle fellow who stood among his peers was gifted with abnormally sized and shaped feet.

Nothing in the inventory could accommodate sz 20 feet. Nevertheless, he was directed to squeeze his otherworldly tools into a smaller size.

On one blistering night our squad were left to rendezvous with an informant, approx 10 miles away. Our friend walked on the heels of his feet, and before long the material gave way. A moment later the bottom soles came right off.

I can't believe it even now. His feet were covered in more bruises than a junkie. God rest his soul, but my dreams remain haunted. After that incident he was the first soldier permitted to obtain footwear of his choosing.
Are you OK?

Nobody answered the Chi-na question...
Based on some failure post I assume they are. Have experienced several brands sole separating from boot. Pay up for Redwing Pecos. They move from work to Honky Tonk flawlessly.

When the sole came off my Asolos I was furious. Even my reebok tactical boot lasted longer.

Not waterproof but dam I have 2 pairs and let me tell u the most comfortable boot yet. Fits snug and love the zipper side feature. No more lacing up. I always use my own insoles which makes these perfect even the other state troopers love them.

How will these hold up in Ukrainian winters?

Might be heading there soon.

That or maybe Venezuela or Taiwan. Can't decide.
Not good for cold Ukrainian winters. You need something with gortex lining. Especially for the trench.

Maybe someone here can recommend something else for cold/wet trench environment?

Waterproof boots can get uncomfortably hot in summer.

I've had UA boots. Fell apart in 6 months. Go with the Nike Special Field Boots (SFB) better.
