Some moisture got on the light leads while outside. You put it in the box, and it rusted over the course of a year.

They definitely don't last forever. 3 years tops on outdoor LED string lights. Between UV, animals, water, ice, sharp gutter edges the deck is stacked against any outdoor lights.

I bought a few of the led's last year to use inside. Crazy looking at the reviews. Last year reviews were stellar. This year, there are a ton of reviews changed to 1 star as they all failed between now and then. Crazy the tyle of garbage these companies put out.

Also, be aware that these have a bit of flicker. If the led is moving or you turn your head you can see the flicker really badly.

I *almost* purchased some clearance net lights... but then I read the reviews. Hideous. Burn out quickly. Avoiding.

this post now contains incandescent and led versions.

most reasonably priced led christmas lights have shown they dont last very long at all. look at the reviews of them. tons of people coming back after less than a year saying their strings no longer work.

Thanks! Got my yearly decoration update to keep my house being the most talked about in the neighborhood!

Also, on the LED discussion, yes, LEDs are generally better. However, the LEDs I have bought in the past just don't "look like Christmas" to me. I am team Incandescent Multi-Color lights until they no longer make them!

I bought lots of them. For $1-$3 a string - it easier to chuck the bad ones and just put up new ones. I feel good about next year already!!!

Are there truly any string lights which keep working, even if more than one bulb burns out. Tired of throwing away whole strings or finding, "oh, I have more than one light out on a string this time" that I have to troubleshoot.

When I take lights down at the end of the season and put them in the box i check if they are working after I wrap them up and put them away. Then when I open the container up the next year inevitable a handful don't work but they just sat in a box. How does this happen?!
