I've done a fair bit of research about lasers lately because I want one for my business and the diode laser I bought a few years ago is underpowered.

My (fairly inexperienced) opinion: this thing has a small engraving area and the laser is underpowered. You'll be able to have some fun with this but your engraving options will be limited and it'll relatively slow because of the low power. I certainly wouldn't expect to cut much wood with this despite what it says.

And for anybody thinking about getting any diode laser: these HAVE to be ventilated outside. There's just too much smoke, even from a small engraving, to do it inside. I live in a cold climate so this time of year I can no longer put it in my shop with the doors open. If you're in a warm climate you can probably get away with no enclosure for a bit, but otherwise you definitely need one with an exhaust fan.

10W Is sufficient for most hobbyists. Air assist is a must for serious hobbyists, though I've not heard good things about TT air assist.
