No, this specific model is not good for gaming as you have to rely on integrated Iris Xe Graphics. This year Asus has released a Non-dedicated GPU version for both ROG Flow X13 (AMD Yoga Style) and Z13 (Intel Tablet), probably targetting people neededing high performance CPU but not interested in gaming. You need to go around $1000 + territory to get the dedicated GPU version with RTX 4050 for any of these.
Surface Pro's screen is smaller, taller and has higher resolution, meaning better pixel density which makes texts more clearer and crisp. For those purposes, your Surface screen is better. What you get with this is a faster display for gaming anf huge performance bump.
Microsoft has done a very nice job with the displays on most of their Surface Pro tablets. Note the difference in pixels per inch, which greatly favors the Surface Pro 4 (smaller screen but considerably more pixels). I don't think you'll notice much of a difference if you're looking at text documents, but if you regularly view & edit images / graphics / video created in higher resolution than FHD+, you'll be able to tell.

Surface Pro 4 tablet has an excellent screen -- 12.3", 2736 x 1834 pixels (~267 pixels per inch), 100% sRGB, and 430 nits brightness. Aspect ratio is 3:2 (2736 / 1834 = 3 / 2 = 1.5 / 1). Great for productivity but you'll see slightly larger black borders when viewing 16:9 movies.

ASUS ROG Flow Z13 has an excellent screen, too, about 1" larger (diag) but it's lower resolution -- 13.4", 1920 x 1200 pixels (~168 pixels per inch), 100% sRGB, and 500 nits brightness per the SD listing. Aspect ratio is 16:10 (1920 / 1200 = 1.6 / 1). Better for productivity than 16:9, but not quite as good as 3:2 (which is roughly 16:10.7, so less scrolling). You'll see a smaller black border when watching 16:9 movies.

Would this screen be at least somewhat comparable to my SurfacePro4? I don't care much about gaming but this seems like a decent everyday laptop. All I do is PDF and Word but I'm spoiled by Surface's screen, my external monitor seems so dull and dim in comparison.

TY. I've skimmed through reviews on Amazon, this one is probably not a good fit for me.

TY, great comparison.
I'm almost leaning towards getting another surface ...except for I'm really over the Surface factor - I think regular style laptop would suit me better. I have been really happy with the surface over the years performance and screen wise but the battery life is greatly diminished and (for the last few years) it completely dies when the machine is turned off, even though I've turned off connected standby and all other gimmicks.

This is not the one to pull the trigger on. There is one floating around with a 3050TI not much more expensive

14.5", 2880 x 1800 pixels (~234 pixels per inch), 120Hz, OLED with 100% DCI-P (great!), and 550 nits per the SD listing. Aspect ratio is 16:10 (2880 / 1800 = 1.6 / 1). On paper, this display is pretty awesome. That being said, be aware because it is an OLED display it will likely drain the battery faster than an IPS display, and it is subject to burn-in (all OLED displays are subject to this happening at some point). Note some people say they can occasionally see faint gridlines because this is an OLED touch screen. I haven't seen the laptop so I can't say either way.

It's clear you're primarily focused on the laptop screen. I suggest you read the Q&As at the Best Buy link, search for and read online reviews about this laptop, and then if you're still interested go to a Best Buy and check out the laptop in person if the display is that important. Your eyes will tell you if the screen is acceptable from your perspective and for your purposes better than any spec or comment.

A couple of other items:

This laptop is 3.48lbs -- is ~2x heavier than your Surface Pro 4 a concern?

Finally, this laptop comes with a 90 watt USB-C power adapter. When you see a power supply higher than 65 watts, you should check it out (where possible) and see how big / bulky it is. There are plenty of smallish 65 watt USB-C chargers (for laptops that support USB-C charging) but beyond that the selection dwindles.

Good luck with your search.

Edit

Grammar, additional comment.

Is that battery life as light as that portable's weight? I would consider it if it's not. 2x Surface but it's still not that heavy compared to laptops. I just am wary of Surface like battery performance. Hopefully it's at least 2x more.
