Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
haha this is the first response in every single dell laptop posting. "250 nits oof" "220 nits ouch"
after comments like these post after post after post, I still don't understand
-what an acceptable nit level would be, to these commenters
-if dell even has any laptops with screens in an acceptable, to these commenters, nit range
-if dell even has any laptops with acceptable nits in this price range
-if any manufacturer has a laptop with acceptable nits in this price range
I even attempted to look for this information myself and actually could not find anything that would justify so many comments about these cheap dell laptop nit ranges.

The comparison would be more premium models, which is why you are right in being a bit annoyed/tickled by these comments when the headline is for a sub-$500 laptop. These displays are indeed basic, but so are the prices. There are better choice out there, but not typically at bargain basement prices even when on clearance. Here's a non-OLED HP Spectre[notebookcheck.net] pumping out over 400 nits. Of course, the likelihood of HP selling that model new via direct or retail channels for $350 is low.

sarcasm on for Sheldon Cooper
nit is a measurement scale for "nitpickers", hence "nit".
220 = ouch
230= yikes
210 = double ouch
I'll let the nitpickers complete all the scale they have.
In the old days nitpickers would always point out something like below:
no dedicated GPU
soldered ram
screen resolution
lack memory slots
brand reliability
lower price else where
lack of ports
And if you ask these nitpickers about where they can find better deal, they become the greatest ghost writers in the world (they ghost your questions).
scarcasm off
This laptop is a reasonable deal. CPU is a bit old. However, if you want to save some money, go for it. I know the benchmarks say otherwise, but from daily usage, for regular users (ie, no gamers, full time videographer or any specialized task like my crazy friends who are into AI, financial model optimization) you won't notice difference between gen 11 vs gen 12 /13

Also worth noting that RAM is upgradable via two (2) SO-DIMM slots and up to 32GB is supported.
Good luck!
