Got the 20% off on the 8750 Watt electric start. 516.87 before taxes. I jumped on that faster than your mom. These smokes the previous FP deal right?
It was $1000 to wire the entire basement, including installing about 15 electrical outlets and three light fixtures as well as installing the generator interconnect kit. I was guessing that if you were only doing the generator interconnect kit, it would cost maybe $400-$500. I apologize for not being more clear.
Same experience with a 1500W version except it was the fuel line. Leaked from the beginning and no real way to return it or get warranty service. Thankfully it was literally only $100 down the drain. Never buying this brand again.

Ah - makes sense! Thanks for the reply.

Can you convert any of these to tri-fuel? The only reason why I haven't bit on this is because I want to be able to hook it to the natural gas line.

What kit did you get?
This is the kit I got for the 8750. Not sure if the same kit would work on the others or not, but they would have one that will. https://motorsnorkel.com/product/...rsion-kit/

Great generator (8750) but had to return and buy elsewhere. Instead of shipping it freight/LTL as listed when I bought it, Amazon shipped it UPS Ground. The box looked like it'd been dragged coast to coast: the styrofoam inside was dust and the frame was badly bent.

Rebought from another retailer. Arrived LTL on a pallet in perfect condition. Paid an electrician $650 for an interlock & hookup install, best money I've spent. Fantastic generator - use it for whole-home backup, runs the furnace, fridge, etc without a hiccup. The 8750 isn't enough to run the stove/oven with everything else, though. Need to do the wattage calcs for your uses. Highly recommend the Champion.

Damn, I need the coupon!
I'm not seeing it, but I've already bought 2 different generators from Amazon in 2023. I was considering giving my current backup unit (a lower capacity Champion) to family & buying the 8750, but w/o the coupon it's a no go

I bought now, asked questions later. I probably missed it, but this can be used as backup generator for the house? I missed another sd for 10k hybrid one for 400.

Screw the neighbors lol. But in all honesty when we have had to use a generator like last year during the blizzard the whole neighborhood was humming with generators. Nobody really cares when they all have them fired up.
Yeah, you're right, when power is out my neighbors expect noise from generators, but depending on where you live and how prepared your neighbors are, it might be a good idea to keep the fact that you have a generator on the downlow. If the s really hits the fan and you're out of power for an extended period, good people can get desperate.

I just had an electrician come out to my house yesterday to wire up an unfinished basement and install a generator interconnect. He installed a panel outside to plug the generator into and wired it directly into the circuit breaker box. All the work was about 1000 bucks. I apologize that I do not have an itemized bill but if I had to guess I would say probably $400-$500.
TLDR, FIL is an electrician, my father was an electrician, so I am very comfortable in that area. Just did the same for our house we moved into a year ago except this time I used an interlock kit. The work is very easy, but sizing the wiring and knowing the codes is where an actual electrician comes in handy. Some electricians don't mind being the brains of the operation and will let you do some of the grunt work - running the wires, putting holes in walls, mounting boxes, etc - and they just come in to do the terminations/tie ins. That saves you a lot of $$.

Unfortunately there is no simple answer as to how much it would cost, because a generator box should really be close to a panel, but everyone's situation is different and the further away the panel is, the more wire it takes and generally the more of a PITA it is to run the wire. The parts themselves aren't expensive - an interlock kit might be $50 (cheap piece of aluminum and rivets), breaker is under $100 depending on the size, box is like $50 with the plug (Amazon), the wire is pricey but sold by the foot,

While I wish mine was a bit quieter, it has worked at 600' elevation to 8000' in freezing temperatures without changing the jets. Decent gene.

You will need a transfer switch or interlock installed. The 8750 can probably backup the whole house except for the AC But it all depends on your individual home. A electric furnace vs gas. Electric oven and size. Hot water tank size if electric, etc.

Just picked up the big one. I'm returning the Ryobi 4000W one I just got from HomeDepot which was like $200 more expensive than this 8750W one.
Thanks!

Went ahead and bit on the 8750 model.. Have a Honda 2000i (inverter) and a monster Generac 15kw (non-inverter).. This slots in between nicely.. Just wish I had the 20% coupon.. Now to decide if I want to place the 15kw on marketplace...

What's with all these generators having high wattage but none of them have higher than 30 amps?

Edit: most stoves and dryers require at least 50 amps I believe (not an expert, don't yell at me).
