Does not require the hub. You can use home assistant.
Good deal as I bought 10 in bulk from Ali and they were ~$8-9 per. Using Home Assistant, these connect via Zigbee (ZHA integration) and there are even automation blueprints to easily program for single-press, double-press, and hold actions.

Blueprint:

Using these physical buttons, I can execute any action integrated in Home Assistant (limitless).
Yup. I have a few aqara devices that claim to need the hub but seem to work with any zigbee hub. I'm using ST currently.

Have several of these attached to a aqara hub and into homekit. Love them. Can program single press, double press and press and hold for 2secs. So 3 actions. One button. Wife approves.

I've set these up for my kids to turn on and off their lights and fans from their beds. They prefer it over Alexa most of the time.

Can you schedule a time where this won't turn the lights on, i.e 10-5am?

With home assistant yes, I'm not familiar enough with other systems to answer for those.

Although I personally prefer the ThirdReality buttons, which is usually at ~$15 and uses AAA battery instead of CR2032, but these are good too. Much more stable and less power consuming than the crappy Samsung SmartThings buttons.

You can do anything using conditions with hubitat, which is the platform I am using. Other platforms could do the same.

Would this be a use of this button - I have it attached to my laundry clothes dryer. I press the button when I start drying my clothes for 60 mins .....the button press starts a timer, such that 60 mins after I have pressed the button, I am notified the time is up/the dryer is finished?

This button would be part of a home automation system to trigger an action. For example using a button to turn on or off lights. That's the simplest option for this.

You can use energy or vibration monitors on a clothes dryer to trigger if it is completed or not.

Example of what I use for habitat for monitoring laundry https://community.hubitat.com/t/b...pdate/3109

And https://www.getzooz.com/zooz-zen15-power-switch/ which I can use because I have a gas dryer and not a 240v dryer.

But there is also https://community.hubitat.com/t/r...ager/30614

You still need a hub like a HUSBZB-1 USB stick or another type of Zigbee hub. It doesn't just work without any type of hub.
