Found these MAPP gas cylinders in the clearance area at Home Depot. If you live in a area with a Menards, this maybe eligible for a 11% rebate which reduces the cost per cylinder to $8.01.

Great deal for plumbing projects involving soldering. I justified buying 6 to use with a hot-air burner tip for a paint removal project: https://www.homedepot.com/p/SIEVE.../325086811:

All they show around me is MAP-Pro, flame temp of 3,730, note regular propane is 3,630 per https://media.tractorsupply.com/is/content/TractorSupplyCompany/tsc/product/3/84/00/51/3840051_Bro2.... [tractorsupply.com]

/edit
MAPP is discontinued
MAPP is Methyl Acetylene Propadiene Propane. It burns at 5,300 F MAP -Pro is Methyl Acetylene Propane. It burns at 3,750 F. Regular propane burns at 3,600 F. Jumping from propare to MAPP may be worth it if you need the higher temp burns.

I'm finding lots of bottles of this, labeled "MAPP", not "MAP-Pro", around me

https://www.homedepot.com/p/SIEVE.../318912570

Bottle says she burns at 3600 F

Lists at 14.97, just as OP wrote.

After further review, I'll be returning what I purchased. Some details from label:

- Supplied by Rothenberger. From a MSDS found for their UK version shows it as: Propylene 99.5% - 100%.

- List UN 1077 Propylene on the front of the label.

- And as noted, shows only a 3600 F air flame temperature. This is the same number found on the propane tank of the same size and the propane version cost less.

This should have been labeled as MAPP Pro, but, it appears anything can be labeled MAPP.

Best comparison between the different gases I found: http://www.aerosolgas.com/p1_propylene.asp They do list a MAPP gas, but, it is a mixture to get the higher properties.

Additional research shows propylene's main use is chemical production as a starting material for the production of plastics and other chemicals.

I have no immediate plans to produce plastics, so back to Home Depot they go.

MAPP gas has not been made here in the US since 2008.

Propylene, aka Propene, is similar to, and made from Propane. It barely burns hotter than Propane so don't waste your money.
