For those of you that don't know, (K) denotes it's an unlocked processor. I have this in one of my PC's and that system is overclocked / performance tuned. Mine is running at 5.2 GHz and I think I have 14 or 16 threads with that. It's a gaming beast and compares very easily with the 14900k in "gaming" not productivity. But, 95% of PC users hardly do any real productivity such as CAD / Rendering, etc.

My new PC is a 14900K with a RTX 4090 and my older 12600K system with a RTX 3080 Ti is exactly the same CPU wise. I know this because I got the RTX 4090 first, and it went int that system until I finished building my new, 14900K system

This 12600 is overclocked / performance tuned is a BEAST ... trust me. $150 is a steal.

Also, the 12600K was voted CPU of the year a few years back, mostly for its tremendous value. It's very to overclock this CPU on nearly all intel motherboards. Literally 1 bios switch. On intel, it's called ( A.I. Performance Tune ) or something like that.

Also, if you're not comfortable taking my word for it, there are tons of videos out there on overclocking the 12600K. You can literally nearly match the 12900K, 13900K and 14900K in "gaming" ... not productivity. More cores really don't mean much past a certain point.

To add to this, F means no integrated GPU so you'll need a video card.

Don't fall for it

Intel tricks people with more cores and higher clock frequency to compensate but worse processor nodes fabrication

It's neck and neck with hexacore ryzen so let that bring your back down to earth on what you plan on using it for unless you do lots of productivity and multitasking that needs over 8 cores

Intel even just started enabling smarter core scheduling with their newest 14 gen processors also with no plans to update older ones on the same socket

The whole generation is pretty stagnant at the higher end of cpus which most people were going to pay more for either: extra cores, cache, or the ability to overclock which we have gotten all those things in separate packages already now

One person literally bought all of them. There are 0 people buying 1 or 2 in the stats. Stock was so low that this might as well be a one time clearance at your local best buy

F means F* you. Don't get a F processor, there's no video to fallback on in case your graphics card fails.

not that its impossible, but neither I nor any of my many pc gaming friends have had a graphics card fail in 22+ years of pc gaming, as far as I recall

Three I've had have failed, although two were mobile. 7600 gt mobile, GTX 260m, and a GTX 580 desktop all failed. Weakest point in a computer if you ask me.
