Similar situation about a year ago. Once I upgraded to the Uber membership, the coupons downgraded to only 40% off. Never saw the 50% off again. But they kind of balance out considering the savings you get from having the membership.

I think Uber changed it so free trials end immediately upon cancellation.

I just cancelled the free 90-day membership right after activation on two different accounts without immediate termination of benefits.
Just tried it and it indeed doesn't end until the end of the 3 month trial period. Strange because I used a 1 month trial a week ago that ended immediately upon cancellation.
Awesome! I got it on my account as well !!! Last time this offer came up, I only was offered 1 month, which I did not do, and now I get the full 3 months ! It's a good thing I held off in redeeming that 1 month offer!
Probably targeted promo: I've been emailed a 6 month promo from Capital One (Quicksilver card) for Uber One. It's says you pay up front and they're reimburse the $9.99 each month up to six months. It came up in an email, but worth checking your email/account prior to starting.
