I ordered two sets of these a few weeks ago and was very happy with the mixture of vehicles! Never seen the skid steer, skid steer with auger, helicopter, dump trucks, forest service yadayada... Can you tell my boys like construction equipment??

Both Hot Wheels and MatchBox are from Mattel. I'd argue that Hot Wheels are those fugly, weird-looking bastardization of a mid-life crisis man's imagination (think hotrod green shark with rainbow flames from its gills) whereas MatchBox cars are more realistic.

Quality yes. But they have different approaches to car models. Matchbox tries to be more realistic while Hot wheels tend to use more "artistic" freedom and fantasy.

I bought these last time around and also received construction equipment. At first was a little disappointed, but after the surprise settled in, this is a good set and offers playability we didn't have before as most our kids sets are cars with one feature of looking like they go fast. Got to have some repair vehicles too.
