My old neighbor used to hang a ping pong ball half filled with bird shot from the ceiling of his garage so that when the hood ornament of his car touched the ball, then he knew that he was perfectly parked. I don't think that any modern car features a hood ornament anymore.

My grandpa did this with a tennis ball. His just touched the windshield when he pulled up.
