Overall I prefer 4. Its extremely pretty and has the most compelling story.

5 is the best looking game and painstakingly accurate to Montana, both in environments and ..uum.. culture. The only reason I rank 4 above 5 is I was a little disappointed with the story.

Far cry 3 is good, but lacks any of the quality of life improvements or side stuff added in the sequels.

Far cry 6 is best forgotten, Ubisoft greed jumped the shark, all the environments are procedurally generated and look awful, the story is shallow trash and all the side quests revolve around loot box dlc.

Honestly, primal is my favorite. I tried to like 5 but it ended weird for me like 6 should have just been dlc for it. Granted, I had hundreds of hours into far cry 1-2 multiplayer on Xbox. Lol

I loved the first Far Cry so much that I've been reluctant to play any of the sequels because they don't feature the same core character and have too different of a feel to them.

Played all the FarCry games , so far 6 is my favorite (still playing) and alot of fun in co-op . 5 and 4 are good , I still play on occasion. ~ Price wise , definitly grab 6 .

For those with VR headsets, Luke Ross (on Patreon) has come out with a VR mod for Far Cry 5 and 6, which adds to the already growing list of other AAA games he has added well functioning list to. For $9 it's a hell of a deal for a completely new way to play it.
You can find him on Patreon and it's a real cheap subscription for what you get and if you don't want updates, you can sign up for a month, get the mod loader, and cancel your subscription.
I pay monthly regardless but I work in VR and feel better about supporting someone doing the devil's work for all of use because these big companies couldn't be bothered to add the functionality which would dramatically increase their sales to a new audience: VR users (even if they've played the game before). We all know they aren't allergic to money but when it comes to VR, they sure act like it.
Just a heads up.

I would forgo 6 altogether. I'm a fan of the series, but 6 felt like the hollow shell of a game. Shallow and uncompelling characters, shitty story, and boring, easy, repetitive gameplay. I wish I could go back in time and unplay it. By far the worst game in the series, and the kind of game that just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I enjoy these games, played since 3. I like semi mindless FPS action and open world exploration. I haven't played 3 in a long time so don't remember how it holds up but 3-5 is probably the sweet spot.
