The fact that this has a gigabit ethernet port on it but is WiFi 6E is baffling. That Ethernet port is a bottle neck that prevents this from ever maximizing on the speeds of 6E. It needed to have at least a 2.5 gigabit port on it.

Edit: this is a triband router but it only has a 2.4, 5, and 6GHz band. It's probably using the 5GHz band for wireless backhaul chopping the speeds on that band in half. If you're using wired backhaul you'll be fine but with a wireless backhaul you really need a triband or quadband router (2 5GHz bands) for wireless backhaul.

Had a similar Nest mesh set up from 2019-2021. At roughly 18 months, the network went into continued power cycling. Google ran diagnostics and told me the unit had a hardware failure they could not resolve. I was out of their 12 month warranty and was politely told I was SOL.

I wouldn't recommend this product line. It so far has been the only router/network to ever fail and it did so before two years.
I've been running the original Google mesh (before the Nest rebrand) since 2017 and it's still going strong! Your comment about the warranty is true for ALL router companies. I've had Linksys and Netgear support give the same SOL response once the router is out of warranty.

For quality:

Nest v1 > Google Nest > Google Nest Pro

It's really gone downhill under Google's management. You would think a "self healing" network would actually do.. something when one of the points randomly drops off, even turn itself off and on again. But you'd be wrong.

Been living with a three pack for ~5 months and it has delivered daily with no issues. There is a limit to the amount of advanced features compared to other systems but if your looking to manage devices and all but eliminate latency issues and dropped connections then this is a solid path.

I just don't like that Google has a bad rep on supporting their devices for long. Look at nest cameras and previous Gen mesh networks are not backwards compatible like eero

I have this in a 3 pack. It's not bad. My only reservation is that you are hard stuck at 1gbps, even if your ISP offers higher.

Otherwise it's way less annoying than my older eero 6 pro that tried to sell you the eero plus subscription on every single screen in the app.

With Google, you get a lot of those tools for free with no subscription to be up-sold.
