Saferacks has them on sale plus 25% off and free shipping. It's cheaper but you'll have to math for yourself.

You don't go to a restaurant and say that the food is way more expensive than the ingredients, do you?

Once you begin to install these you realize how much worthless junk you have.

Can this be brought down using some remote or do you always need a ladder to put/remove stuff? I am looking for overhead storage that I can press a button and it comes down for you to remove your items.

Sigh... these deals always make me sad. Our garage ceilings are low (only 8' IIRC) because there are rooms above it and it's an older odd-styled home. There's no way these racks would work comfortably in our garage especially with the cars we have now. Next house, it's going to be top of the list to get a garage with higher ceilings...
Could probably use an angle grinder to just make the "legs" of this shorter from what I can see. Obviously won't be able to fit as much but could at least have something.

How do you install these on engineered / I-beams? It seems you can't drill into the flames of the beans.

Costco's package comes with the 18 hook accessory pack. It looks like this isn't part of Saferacks direct offer. Adding it gets the price to be the same between both sites. If you don't need or want the hooks, going with the Saferack website certainly is a better deal.

Same situation here and I've decided it's not worth the risk to install these...

Went with wall mounted shelves instead.

Pro tip: Get rid of some of your crap instead. Or… move somewhere there are basements.

I bought this at Costco for considerably less pre-covid to install in our then basement-free home. A laser guide does wonders, and yeah holding your arms over your head for extended periods is tiring if you're an old fat guy like me. I had a garage attic with a motorized lift, that was awesome.

I spent $200 on garage shelving system and realized I am only storing stuff that really should be donated (shoes no one wears, old kids toys, yard tools that I never touch.) Anyone else realized the same thing?

Great question. If you don't have traditional dimensional lumber gaming its a bit tricky. Ideally zd 2X blocking between I joists, the bigger problem is most new construction homes aren't designed for adding additional load to the truss chords or as you point out to I joist flange. If you are storing light items probably not an issue, heavy items distributed over several joists likely wouldn't cause a short term issue, long term may sag. I had these and returned them until I could research a bit more and adequately beef up the framing but to each their own. New construction home with engineered trusses and I joisr framing.

This seem great are they easy to install or have someone install them for you?
I installed by myself, took longer. I had someone help on the second one and went a lot faster, plus I learned from the first. Having the tools and ladders were key. I bought a ladder and still came out cheaper than paying to install the 200 each the installer wanted.

Having installed a couple of these in the past, i would strongly recommend getting an excellent stud finder like the Franklin multi sensors. The way of garage ceilings are built you will have weird stud spacing and overhead beams. You dont want a bunch of misaligned bolt to hold up 600lbs above your kids or cars.
