This TV has a 60Hz refresh rate and doesn't support VRR, which isn't ideal for gaming. Otherwise, how is it for its intended purpose (displaying art)?

It is fantastic for displaying art. It doesnt have the best PQ but does well as a TV. I have them in all of my rooms besides the media room.

I just upgraded from a version of 5 years ago. The matte finish is far better. However, the viewing angles are awful in comparison with the old version and the new version now has a nub (probably to capture IR remote signals) at the bottom-right instead of being a true frame all the way around. At the end of the day, I do like it better. There are always pros and cons. Plus, either I got used to the washed out side views or the TV is now simply warmed up and displaying art better now. At first, I couldn't tolerate what it looked like in a Zoom call and contemplated putting the old one back up.

This thing is fantastic at turning all my photos into matte printed looking photos of my family. Has convinced all my guests so far. One of those things you actually don't mind having multiple of, even if it's not often used as a TV very often. That said, I wish it was cheaper. Even at this price, it's too expensive for me to buy a second one considering I got my refurbished 55" for around $750.

Ppl make way too big of a deal about "The Frame" tvs. Its just their lowest end TV that they sell for normies that they put literally a frame around and it makes ppl go gaga~

Better deals to be had for the Frame line. Samsung Deal of the Day (stacked with EPP) < 2 weeks ago included more, and the discounts were significant for bigger sizes.

I can't remember what this size went for, but I'd recommend most hold out for another sale to come around.

Do you mind telling how you display your own photos?

You upload your photos through the Samsung Smartthings app and choose which ones you want to show on your TV.

Normies? The Frame is for those who appreciate displaying art. Sounds like that's not for you. Keep playing your video games.

I have this in 55'' cause my wife wanted one in bedroom. Got it for $890 on prime day + free frame and installation. Some thoughts for those interested:

1. Image quality is not good compared to OLED. I have an LG G2 and the image quality of that is vastly superior to Samsung qled. This is to let you know that if you value picture quality, dont get this. The blacks are washed out and there is clearly light bleed (not sure if this is the proper term). I'd give OLED a 9/10 PQ and qled 5/10 quality. I am picky though. Also there is no Dolby Vision cause Samsung too cheap to pay for license.

2. I'm glad that I got professional install. It was a PITA to align evidently. Beyond that, you should be aware that if you want a clean look and not see wires, it's kinda a PITA. I had to prepare for installer by buying an in-wall box that fit between studs. I had to cut drywall to install box and then cut additional box above it to run wiring for electricity. I later realized that it was better to run the electrical to my box instead so covered it up with a blank plate. The box sits in the inwall box and is plugged into electricity that I wired to the box. I forgot the name of it, but it is just a plastic box for electrical. This will allow a clean look where no wires are present. If you have a dresser or something, it is much easier as you can just drop the wires down in the wall and make a hole at the bottom to put a cover plate and have the wires etc go somewhere around the dresser.

3. Transferring pictures to your frame is also a PITA. You can buy art pictures on etsy and upload them also. The app is not good and will freeze and appear to do nothing (iOS). Im sure they do this on purpose so that you will subscribe to their picture service.

4. Make sure you update your firmware. If it is older and have older firmware, the auto picture option is really poor and doesn't work well. The newer firmware helped a lot.

Just my opinion, but if you want a frame for art, then this is good. The matte finish is nice (but be aware it is difficult to clean and can be damaged easily). If you want it for picture quality, then absolutely do not buy this TV. If your wife or significant other wants this for art and TV, well then you might be stuck in your decision. LG OLED is absolutely beautiful PQ compared to this.

For those who thinks this really turns a picture into an art, is it because of the panel/screen on top of that, or is it just because of the frame?

Thanks

update: looks like its the matte finish?
