Is it cheaper to travel from Spain into Paris than flying directly into Paris?

Good luck using the Renfe website, it's pretty frustrating to use.

Yep with how difficult their website is I would just fly if it's close. Just trying to use their wifi was a pain šŸ˜‚

It is possible you'll find a better price flying (depends on lots of factors), but you'll have a better experience with the train. Most likely you will depart and arrive from the city center (rather than an airport in the suburbs), not have to worry about getting through security or getting there 2 hours ahead of time, have a more comfortable ride in a much bigger seat where you can get up and walk around and go to the bar car, etc etc.

Traveling by train in Europe is completely different than in the US. It is a much better experience than flying and probably quicker door to door.

We used it in 2017 and it was pretty frustrating then as well. I was able to eventually figure it out and buy the tickets. And the trains themselves were very convenient and great.

I find this with most European websites. Even the large international airlines like air France, klm etc have pretty wonky websites

So if I have to get to Paris from Madrid, do I take this and a local train? Or would flying work out cheaper?

I wish the US had high speed trains. We have a pseudo high speed train in palm beach and it costs $27 to go down the road. It's no fun when the cars on I95 are passing you.
