To prevent water damage and extend service life, when closing the cover after inserting the batteries, apply some plumber's grease or silicon grease on the cover seals. cheers

For those buying these, grabbed four at Walmart for $2 each two years ago. I ran a few zones in my lawn and use these with them. Zero complaints, work excellent. Set the time you want them on, length of time you want them to run, that's it. Great investment. I run mine off an old abandoned well line (I grabbed a Harbor Freight well pump cheap to run them).

I can take a flyer on this. Will let me run a hose to an areathat doesn't have sprinklers and we are trying to get some plants established.

Nice! Grabbed four. My experience with these sorts of gadgets is they don't last all that long but if I get a season out of it it's a win at $5

Pretty much every single one of them has failed eventually 1-2 years. But at this price.. hells yes. it does say clearance online only.
