Definitely older. But I am playing BG3 on it right now. Have played cyberpunk and Starfield. Obviously resolution will suffer but they run great.
I purchased a 64gb refurbished deck from GameStop when the price was $300ish. It came in like new condition with no signs of use. Came with original charger and carrying case in a brown box. Recommended.
If you don't already have the membership total is closer to $290+tax for the 64 gig model.

Direct from valve with true warranty support it's $280. But hard to find in stock.

GameStop support will be nearly non existent.

Starfield definitely doesn't run great on it. I have it and it runs with potato graphics and a low frame rate. Personally, I would consider it virtually unplayable. If you happen to already have a gaming PC, you can use Steam Remote play to stream it to your Deck to get good graphics and frames.
new FSR 3 to increase FPS. Any game that has older FSR versions can be replaced with new FSR 3 for FPS boost on steam deck.

My SD acts weird like he mentioned. Where you power it on and it won't turn on right away and you have to try a few times. That's more on Steam than GS. I did not watch the whole thing but did he mention what games crash? Maybe they're not SD supported?

How GameStop refurbishes used electronics: First, you take the dinglepop, and you smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then repurposed for later batches.
Then you take the dinglebop and push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all of the fleeb juice.
Then a Shlami shows up and he rubs it, and spits on it.
Then you cut the fleeb. There's several hizzards in the way.
The blaffs rub against the chumbles, and the plubus and grumbo are shaved away.
That leaves you with a regular old refurbished Steam Deck

No he didn't go into much detail. The issue is less about the device as I'm sure it can be resolved via software more than likely. But the fact that GameStop was sketchy and all over the place when he turned to them for support.

great price but yikes on Gamestop.
Don't have personal experience, but a lot of youtubers I've watched say YMMV.
I'd buy a refurb directly from Valve but not from Gamestop esp since support/repair will be handled by them not Valve if you have an issue.

If you can afford it go Oled for sure.

You want manufacture refurbished from Valve not the crap gamestop sells. Broken bits horror stories

Personal experience but we bought a new oled model for Christmas and could barely get the thing to play games without constant wi-if issues. We've never experienced a single problem between our PCs, Xboxes, etc getting online so it's definitely not on our end. We even gave it two days thinking oh servers are just slammed but this is legit an issue with their garbage antenna and thousands of other people have complained about these same issues. I'd personally stay far away from this trash deck.
Maybe there are alot of duds in the first oleds going out. I have older base model without upgraded wifi of the Oled and the wifi is perfectly fine for me.

Nowhere this mentions "manufacturer refurbished", but just "GameStop refurbished". I assume this is same as every other refurbished product by GS, which don't go through the process in as official ones https://store.steampowered.com/sa...furbished?

Edit: answering my own question -- the FAQ part of the page says

> Are these the same refurbished Steam Deck units GameStop is selling?
> No, GameStop's refurbished Steam Decks have been refurbished in their own facilities, and they will come with a different warranty provided by GameStop.

Sounds like a problem unique to you, perhaps you can connecting to the wrong network at home (5gz vs 2.4z) as this is the first I have heard of garbage wifi and I am quite active in the SD community. The OG Deck had much slower, but still decent wifi, the OLED has been lauded as a huge improvements over the original. I'm personally seeing a marked improvement since upgrading in both speed and range.

BTW, you can't just claim "thousands of people" when you are seemingly the only one complaining about something. After doing a little research because of your post this '1000's' seems to be 1-2 people posting the same thing across multiple platforms. Oddly they claim resetting their ROUTER solves this "Steam Deck problem" temporarily. LOL....

Yes they are pretty great.. namely the PS Remote Play through Chiaki. (Yes they don't have native remote play software through Linux)..Xbox leaves a bit to be desired but it is functional

If you are going to use it primarily for remote play, the Portal is better. You will get the full PS5 experience.

Any experience with remote play on PS5 or Xbox sx?
I can vouch for a good PS5 remote play experience with Chiaki. Also works with the Deck's gyro, which is awesome.
