I bought these and I live in N Texas….they did nothing to deter mosquitoes. The mosquitoes would be all over me and would actually land on this thing. Hate mosquitoes so much.

Not to tc, but these things don't work. The only reliable thing that has worked here in South Florida are Mosquito Dunks. Cheap, and effective.

No idea on this product but we have very little standing water in socal, or at least that i can control. It's possible my neighbors have standing water.
Could be neighbors or coming from a lake/river close by. This is the product from Lowes, for comparison. Essentially you place it in a bucket of water, a pond, birdbath, etc and the mosquitos would lay their eggs in the water and it kills mosquito larvae for 30 days. Most major retailers sell it. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Mosquito...ck/3047384

As noted by cmac, I'm comparing two different products (repelllant vs deterrant), but my experience with Thermacell has not been good. Maybe the formula they are using in the past year is different and not as effective, but it doesn't work well, even with no wind. Give Thermacell a try if you get it a good price. Good Luck!

My exact experience, but from South Texas. Mosquitos would land on it, look us in the eyes as their brethren would drain us of our bodily fluids.

They had 10 packs (120 hours) refill kits on sale for $4.99 (reg $49.99) near me. Do a search on the Lowes site.

Picked up a few!

Bought a house on the gulf coast, and the mosquitos are horrible. I've resorted to buying a bee keeper suit for when it's really bad. I recently was having to work outside for a while in a "protected" area from wind and the mosquitos were rough, I fired up one of these thermacells and didn't get bit the whole time I was there.

I know as others have said... wind blows it away but if you can find a semi-protected area from wind this will make your life much easier!

Nice find. After seeing the refill hack videos I decided to get a couple. Green was a couple bucks more for me.
The one where you fill up with Butane yourself? I miss the old hack where you could buy the butane refills that were for a curling iron...they were the same size for half the price. Unfortunately Thermacell fixed that hack 😂.

I use them for deer hunting during bow season in South GA swamps and don't see how people think they don't work? I don't see how I managed before these were invented with just a bug tamer suit 😂

I tried one earlier in the summer. I noticed no difference in the mosquitoes in the area.
