Lessons focus on a real-life goal — for instance, ordering at a restaurant. Learners develop the vocabulary and grammar needed to achieve that goal through lots of varied practice in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Duolingo allows learners to discover patterns on their own without needing to focus on language rules — the same way you learned your first language as a child. This approach, called "implicit learning," is ideal for developing a strong foundational knowledge of a language and its rules.
At Duolingo, we're committed to improvement. Test questions are embedded throughout our courses to measure how learners are progressing — and to show where Duolingo can improve.

Ok. I did two levels of Spanish with them before realizing my bathroom breaks had gotten way too long and honestly really glad I stopped wasting my time thinking it would take me years to get somewhere with this rate and I would be more likely to quit (almost did it with English). I sure am glad I found dreaming Spanish platform(free) that reminded me that kids learn their first language differently and after taking that approach I am shocked I am at advanced Spanish level after 12 months of listening, watching, reading. I never took Spanish before and while my example is personal I do believe there are so many more free real options to learn a language and duolingo certainly NOT the one I would recommend for anyone who is serious about learning a language. For those who wants to learn Spanish I would recommend these free sources: Dreaming Spanish along with apps like language transfer and spanishdict. I almost never post 😀 but seeing results I decided to share my experience. Happy learning and Happy New Year!

It would appear the discount is being applied to current users as well. My super duolingo subscription is set to renew on Dec 30 and it says I'm going to be charged $59.99.
Also looks like they took away the 2 weeks free trial because of this promotion? My son just asked me if he could join the free trial yesterday and he can't find that option anymore today.

Funny, I was still being offered the 2 weeks promotion today.
They sure make it as hard as possible to purchase the product. Doesn't say anywhere you need to create an account before you see purchase options (unless I missed it). Ended up finding that info on a previous deal.
I have the super annual plan and they just started advertising 20% off the family plan which brings it down to $96 for the year. It says invite up to 5 family members or friends and supposedly I have 3 days until the offer expires.
Bought it for my daughter. Had to buy via the browser login because the android Family Link app wouldn't let me buy it on her device. Added a reminder to cancel it in December 2024.

I'm currently outside of the US and was able to get 60% off the rate in my country. It is different (lower) rate than if I was in the US.
