Forgot to mention, M3 Pro is about as good as M2 Max, so there's an automatic bump in single/multi-core performance going to the newer gen.

M1 Max - 8 power, 2 efficiency, 32 GPU cores
M2 Max - 8 power, 4 efficiency, 38 GPU cores
This M1 Max 16" is $800 cheaper than the M2 Max 16" deal with 64GB memory and SSD
price wise the M1 Max here is a much better deal I think unless you think 32GB extra ram and the more cpu/gpu cores is worth $800.
The upgrade for to new M3 Max from 14 cpus to 16 cpus and 64GB from base 36GB M3 Max is $500 so the upgrade is cheaper in the brand new M3 Max configurator page
