Also, sliding miter saws let you cut thicker pieces of wood (because you can move it in and out) and might have longer durability.
I get this sounds like a non issue and it probably isn't for people that do it all the time. I would be livid if I didn't have a double bevel saw to save $50 bucks.
The sliding is not really a need for me or for trim. It only is needed if you are cutting things bigger than 8" which I have yet to do.

If one plans to do 2x8 at angle or wider, steps/risers, shelves etc then slider is better option BUT it's also heavier and needs more room in the back for rails and dust collection is generally worse on them not that it's that great on non sliders.
