crazy how much wattage incandescent strands put out and the fact that everyone used to use them as recently as 10 years ago. I Have a 12 ft xmas tree that's incandescent and measuring with my kill-a-watt it uses a constant 1150W. that's more than my desktop computer and appliances running at once.
I'm all about saving money on energy by using LEDs instead of incandescents, but my issue with using LEDs for Christmas lights is that almost all of them cheaply rectify the AC into DC. You especially notice this when you drive by a house with them at night. They have this jarring strobe effect in the periphery of your eyes, and it personally hurts my eyes and almost gives my a headache. Incandescents don't do this because they are analog so you don't notice the frequency of the waveform like with LEDs. It's usually because they rectify the voltage with a cheap half bridge or even with a single diode instead of a full bridge rectifier which would make the lights appear more smoothly in your eyes. So until they start doing that, Imma pay the higher electric bill with incandescents because they are much more satisfying to look at, and that's the whole point of Christmas lights. Also, LEDs are sometimes way too bright, especially blues and whites. If they had a brightness setting, that would help change my mind as well. Here's to hoping we can get some more sophisticated LED Christmas lights in the future.

There's still plenty out there especially wired figures and snowman.

I like having the choice of buying incandescent or LED lights. But unless you need a type of light that also emits a lot of heat, I'm not sure why anyone would buy incandescent lighting. Just my own personal observation.

That said, if you don't mind these older technology 'hot lights', this seems to be a great deal. 👍🏼

Anymore it makes sense to go LED, or the latter. I get it from the point some enjoy the nostalgic look and the warmer colors incandescent are known for, but from a cost savings, electrical usage, and the fact they are brighter, are the better alternative in my opinion.

The multi color incandescents are still far superior just because they blues are less harsh and the overall tone is MUCH warmer, but there's no reason a manufacturer couldn't just be slapping colored caps on warm white LEDs. That would get it close enough where I could be happy with it. Just no manufacturer has with the mini lights yet.
