It actually garnered 9 Oscar nominations for the 45th Academy Awards and won 2. It does have that disaster movie cheese factor but it is a really entertaining watch. There are so many interesting and fun trivia facts about the production of the movie - including that the climbing, swimming and stunts by the main actors were actually done by themselves. Also, the stuntman who performed the fall into the ceiling light (one of the most iconic stunts ever put to film) was paid a mere $100 for that particular stunt.

I think because they all have storms/bad weather. I've never seen Poseiden.

The Perfect Storm & Twister are in the conversation for most unintentionally funny movies from the 90's up to 2000. In the Perfect Storm: when "Ma" breaks up a near fistfight between two of the Shipmates in the bar is comedy gold, unintentional comedy but still funny 🤣
Just the Andrea Gail shipmates walking down the dock to get on the boat is hilarious alone!

Yep. Not a deal. It's been $11.99 since September before dropping to $10.99 for essentially all of December.
