agreed, delivery drivers should be paid by their salary
here is a tip, if you want actual benefits, go work for USPS, Fedex or UPS
you don't tip at Mcdonalds, delivery for amazon is no different
Do you tip usps, FedEx or ups when they deliver your packages/mail? Do you tip the receptionist at your doctors? Do you tip the stocker or checkout at the grocery store? Do you tip the laborers when doing landscaping or repairs? Tips are meant for good/exceptional service and are not to be expected in every job. Waiters/waitresses, hairdressers, bartenders etc are the exception. At least that's my view and I will/do tip others when they go above and beyond.
looks like it's over [the payments at least]....per op's link

6) I heard about the drivers being given $5 per "thank you"? Is that promotion still live?
The promotion where eligible drivers received $5 for every thank you, was for drivers who received the first 2 million 'thank yous' starting 12 December 2023. As on 14 December 2023, we have received over 2 million thank yous and the promotion is now over.
