This is a one-way airfare for those who plan to visit multiple destinations in asia while you're there already, this is a good start. Start off in Bali (Denpasar Indonesia) and make your way to other desired destinations. Singapore Airlines via Booking.com have one-way airfares travelling from San Francisco (SFO) to Denpasar Bali Indonesia (DPS) for $410 in economy, making 1 stop in Singapore. Keep in mind the fares to other cities may be higher as you get closer to mid-May because of peak season, however inter-asia airfares will still be reasonable because you may be using regional airlines to get you from point A to point B. Returning should be from a major international airport for availability.
Travel Availability:
Departs SFO: Feb 11, 19-21, 25-29; March 3-9, 11-13, 17-19, 31; April 1-5, 7-10, 12-24, 28-30; May 1, 3-6, 8

I'm afraid I can't say because my niece booked it for me. She's an expat in Thailand and found the accommodations through her connections. Looking through my photos, I see that we stayed at "The Club Villas [theclubvillaseminyak.com]".
Bali is an excellent cultural experience in the smaller villages and further north, and has some interesting archaeological sites if you're into that. Some of the backwoods (if you want to call it that as Bali is quite crowded and Denpasar is a typically horrid Indonesian city) hotels are great fun. I've always enjoyed those aspects, but you don't need to do it more than once. The Balinese people are generally very friendly and the tourist culture has benefitted them greatly so it's a good experience in that respect.
But if you're going for beaches, resorts, etc., don't go. The resorts are very cheap compared to Hawaii or the Caribbean but the beaches are really subpar, the air nearly always stinks of burning wood and garbage, and the water is full of pollution and garbage, even if you can't see it on the particular day or two you're at the beach. Also, you have the locals from East Asia (China) and Australia, who you generally want to avoid if you can plan as such.
So I wouldn't recommend Bali other than for the unique (if somewhat commercialized) cultural experience and the friendly people. It's certainly not worth flying that far for any sort of resort-focused experience. I don't fly economy but I wouldn't do it in business or first either. It's not worth it at all.
My wife being Malaysian and speaking the language, it was easy to get or do certain things.
The food is amazing, maybe second to Malaysia. Malaysian cuisine is probably the best I've had among [SEA]sian countries.
HIRE A PERSONAL DRIVER! Easier to get around than e-hailing; unless you're doing a tour. I really enjoyed my time in Bali.

Bali people are one of the friendliest people in the world and very honest (don't get mistaken with local immigrants which are from surrounding islands) BUT they don't cook that well. No matter what food they have there most of the time is just so so. If you want to taste good Indonesian food, go to the next door island, Java Island (more specifically East Java / Jawa Timur). After you tried food there then come back again here and let us know your rating.
How do I know? I spent my first 25 yrs of my life in East Java.
and I'd been to some parts of Malaysia too.

If you prefer better beach, go to next island Lombok.
Also Labuan bajo also great, Komodo island and Padar island also super recommended.
