Good deal! Just be aware before you order that Ebags is running VERY slow in shipping; Expect it to take up to a month to receive your item, regardless of what the delivery "estimate" is. (The shipping label is created within a few days, but then item may not get shipped out for another week-and-a-half or two weeks. See the end of several recent Ebags deal threads for examples) Seller is slow to respond as well.

I have the DLX and did a trip to India with it recently. I don't have the regular but the waist strap was great for support when the bag was fully packed. All other times the waist strap just got on the way just like all other waist straps.

I do not own this but have many other large and small packs and I absolutely suggest that you spend an extra couple of bucks and get the one with the large hip belt. Your shoulders will thank you after using the bag once.

Anyone have the DLX and can speak to the difference between that and the regular mother lode?

The thing that stands out to me the most would be the material… don't know about anything else

Ebags used to be such a great company. It sold a whole slew of bags made by other manufacturers, and it also had a huge line of its own products, which were always innovative and well-made. Then the company sold out to Samsonite, and now it is a shell of what it used to be. I still have and use an Ebag-branded mobile office bag on wheels that is one of my all-time favorites. I do NOT believe that the Mother Lode carries on well, unless you do not have it filled to capacity. It has expansions that make it pretty darn big. But, if you do not use those expansions and don't stuff it silly, I believe it will fit as a carry-on.

Looks like DLX adds the removable waist belt with zippered pockets, the original weekender doesn't have this option

It'll fit fine as a carry-on filled to capacity. It gets tricky when you want to use it as a personal item (stuff too full and may not fit under the seat).

Spent 3 months in Europe living out of my eBag 15 years ago. Still have that bag and it still rocks. Great, great backpacks.

It looks like on most airlines the DLX can NOT be used as a carry on. I have the normal one and it is a fantastic bag.

Thanks for this- having the waist strap makes a difference for me, especially if I end up doing a lot of walking while carrying it Smilie

I bought both and yes this is the difference with the DLX and yes I can confirm it does take weight off of your shoulders I'm glad I got it
