mint is not what it was a few years ago.

do not transfer in a number you care about.

do not use it as your primary service.

do not expect any CS that will be of any help.

No. The way Google Voice works, it's basically a VOIP phone number. You can use it with either cellular minutes or cellular data via the Google Voice app or through a browser. So you just get a Google voice number (it may be possible to port your current number to Google Voice), and then you use that as your main phone number. That way, it doesn't matter what cell plan you have, your number always stays the same. When people call or text me, they are using my Google Voice number. It's been that way for 15+ years.
Caveat here. Some things don't always work as expected like with Android Auto or assistant on a watch may make a call or send a text using the built in apps instead of Google voice, which would be your "temporary" number. It wound up being a big hassle for me, not worth the savings

Ok. But there's actually a setting in the Google Voice app that lets calls made through your phone's built-in app use your Google Voice number.

Thanks, is it possible to get this at a t-mobile official store and to also do number port in from xfinity mobile? I need to get my mom off xfinity mobile as I gear up to switch to fiber soon and she's on their basic plan unlimited talk/tax w/ 1GB data wich is $16+ after fees and taxes.

Hmmm maybe I'll have to check it out again. There was something sort of specific I couldn't change. But, thanks! I'll check it out

I like Mint but their rate is not as competitive once the promo ends, which means there isn't much incentive to stay. They've created this game which we need to constantly switch carriers and not building much loyalty from their customer base.

Agree. As long as the area has good T-Mobile network, mint is awesome.
Not true in my case. I had excellent coverage in T-Mobile and had horrible experience with Mint !!! Location is downtown Minneapolis if that matters. Ported out even before my plan expired

I need a SIM card for my car using maybe 5 minutes or less of phone calls per months and 1GB of data. Is there any cheap plans basically just to keep a number alive like $2/mo?
Tello.
Another T-Mobile MVNO.
1GB. 100 minutes for $6/mo

My Verizon bill was $90 a month with device credits. I bought a brand new samsung cash money minus my trade in.

Mint is $30 a month vs Verizon $90.

$60 times 36 months is a $2160 difference

Thank you for the clear explanation!
