It was so annoying to see parents literally take over the whole project to make it perfect, while the kid sat and watched.
Had so much fun watching my daughter develop hand-eye coordinator, strength, painting skills, etc. I often ended up with paint up to my elbows as I was the "holder" of items while she painted, but I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.
When it was all said and done, she had nearly 50 "completed" pins!

Yes, it has HD logos on it but they couldn't care less. Hammers! Paint! Stickers! Pins!
FWIW, I've found the Lowes ones to be much harder to get. They never seem to have enough, even if I register, and they seem to hate the idea of me taking one kit to go, despite a registration for 2 and showing up with only 1.
In the early 50s you have a Peanuts cartoon where Patty and Lucy go downtown to look at the toys in the window. Patty says "It's fun even if you can't buy anything."
Or in the book "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," set in the early 1900s, Francie saves her pennies and trades them for a nickel and goes to the store to browse for toys. She's not only excited at being able to buy what she sees but excited that if the floor walker asks her to leave she can show him her nickel and stay she is going to buy something.
So stuff has been marked to children since stuff was created.
thanks!
