I prefer 22 than 23. 22 feels more robust and movements are smoother. Although, eventually I'd have to migrate to 23 as there will be less players in the 22 pool.
I ordered a couple of games a couple of weeks ago.
No real complaints on shipping or anything. One item took a while to come and the disc looks kind of weird with wavy lines or discoloration on the side that gets read. I'm not sure if it's disc rot. Didn't try it yet (or more specifically my kids didn't try it yet) and it was cheap enough that it isn't worth complaining about or trying to return. It was listed as last item, so I might avoid those from now on.
I check out the items available from time to time to pick up more games for the kids. My kids don't play often enough where I'm willing to pay full price or get the latest version.
In general I think vipoutlet liquidates excess inventory or returns for Walmart. One of the items I got had a returned sticker on it but appeared to be new/unopened. And frequently has deals posted on here for refurbished computers. So I was willing to give them a try and have no major complaints so far and would order from them again.
And sports games that are updated annually tend to get discounted and I think gameplay should mostly be the same but you might want to research a game before buying.
Can you explain why? Genuinely curious. Can't you continue playing as long as you want if you don't care about roster update?
My guess would be supply and demand. They make a "new" version each year. Most of the time the only difference is a minor feature update and roster update (or they make the game worse). For a given system, say ps4, there might be 10-15 years of Madden made. With so many millions of copies out there, they are dirt cheap.

Besides roster updates from what I gathered the online playing system for a specific year might eventually get taken offline. So you wouldn't be able to play others online.
Also it sounds like some of the new games have more microtransactions, requiring/letting people build up strong players/teams by spending money.
If you're only playing locally it might not be that big of a deal.
For me the main reason to get a newer/different version is for roster updates and player/team ratings. ie if one year one of your favorite teams/players are rated really well.
I haven't personally played these types of games in a while though so am not that familiar with newer features, online gameplay, etc. I did look into it a bit before picking games up for my kids though.

I guess you can but...
1) Multiplayer servers are shut down wayyy too early
2) The improvement made year after year add up over time and you'll kind of want the newer version... so most people wouldn't care for anything older
3) It's built-in to our society (not for slickdealers though... we're built different) to buy the new thing...

This is pretty much my hot take on the matter.
