Great camera. I bought this refurb kit a couple months ago. My camera looked brand new. Came with a shutter count of 0. I highly recommend this. My latest photos on my Instagram were taken with it. Check out for examples https://www.instagram.com/v3g0pho..._source=qr
Nikon is doing great. Record profit margin in 2023, they have moved from entry level products and DSLR to more a expensive mirrorless lineup. They are selling $4000 Z8s instead of $400 superzooms.

How's Z5's autofocus for shooting sports? Tight budget but want to shoot indoor highschool basketball. I have to figure a fast (f/2.8) zoom too so used price point is probably the only way to attain this. Any help will be appreciated.

Everything I have read suggestions this is not great for that. The z6 will outperformed motion shots

It's not a long term strategy if you cannot attract entry level photographers. Nikon users will eventually die off and then what?

Seems like everything thinks this is a good camera, whats the difference in price between this as say a Z7?

Tempting. I have 2 D3500 cameras and 5 lens. Mostly use for Instagram PR work. Not sure how well the FTZ Adapters work.

Heavily recommend just buying the ftz adapter and using used dx lenses. Picture quality difference was negligible from my 35, 50, 85mm Z lenses (~$700 lenses each vs $150-250 new, cheaper used, sometimes even free)

The Canon R10 refurbished was $499 recently. Ita not a full frame, but the 4K 30dps recording has no rine limit on video recording. You could also look into the R50 or R7 as well.

Incorrect. The r10 does have limits on video recording. Normal: 2 hr. High Frame Rate movie (Full HD 120/100fps): 30 min. If the camera's internal temperature becomes too high the recording time may reduce. 4K 30p HQ: Approx. 50 min.

In every industry companies are realizing all the money is at the top, so that's where the profit is. If you want to buy a $25k car, you have like 2 choices. If you have $200k to spend, you have dozens of choices. Until the governments stop printing money like crazy, that will continue.

But why do this instead of buying say a D7500? Those can sometimes be had for $600 factory refurb. I'm sure video is better but for photos I'd take a D7500.

Z5 is 4.5 fps, you really want more like 7-8 fps for sports. You also can't select Dynamic Area Focus modes D9, D21, D51, it's fixed. I use D9 for basketball. There's no Group Area Focus - it's clearly not meant for sports or wildlife.

I shoot U10/12 basketball with a D7500 (8 fps) and a 50mm f/1.8. I find f/2.8 is too slow unless it's a very well lit gym. So that's like $800. Takes great images but wish I had a zoom. Still, 50mm works great on the half court, you just can't get good transition shots.

So you really want a full frame camera, f/2.8 zoom and a better viewfinder than Z5/6/7, which are 60 Hz. You want a Z8. Tight budget and indoor basketball are not a good mix. Smilie

It won't work very well because you are buying a full frame camera using old crop lenses. It works better the other way where you have a crop sensor camera and full frame lense.

How is it only negligible? Unless you are taking the pictures in crop mode.

Good deal - I don't think you can find a better camera for the price.

2 SD card slots, in-body stabilization, and the lens lineup for Nikon Z is excellent. I would probably recommend the 24-70 f/4 lens for around $400 used.

Plus, if you have F-mount lenses, you can buy an adapter and those will still work on the Z mount.
