as a 4+ year VR player, sometimes the 20 minute tech demos are the best experiences of all. To this day the London Heist psvr "game" is an all time fav. Vestige which is maybe 15 minutes and $5 made me cry my eyes out and will forever be one of the most moving pieces of art I've seen. Sure the Skyrim and Fallout ports are cool, but they don't highlight the vast potential of the medium, they're just fiddly ways to play pre-existing games.
Same. Just got a Quest 3 last week.

Specifically, anything that is just a 20 minute tech demo that we should avoid?

Does anyone have recommendations for any of these VR games?

I played the Batman Arkham VR game on the PSVR - it was fun, but short, a few limited stages, certainly not a full Arkham game. More like a weighty arcade/tech demo than a real game. Also reading the reviews, someone complaining the controls don't work with Quest 2 without fan-made file patches, so you'd have to be comfortable with that kind of thing. I'd read the reviews for that issue on ALL the games listed here, since I don't know how common this issue is with Steam games; until now I thought Steam VR-Quest connected games were pretty reliable, now I'm not sure.

Batman Arkham VR has some incredible graphics/immersion, goodish story, but kind of a telltale games feel to it (even less so). That and it is REALLY short.

I got it in a humble bundle for a couple bucks and it was worth it.

Skyrim is… Skyrim. It's not the best VR implementation and can get very frustrating at times, but man is it cool to step into that world. Same for Fallout 4

I thought Creed was Ok. I personally liked thrill of the fight better.

SuperHot… cannot repeat enough how great of a game that is

I played the entire game on a Quest 2 without any patches so I'm not sure why they had issues with it. Never ran into any problems at all and it's a shorter experience game tbh.

I have encountered only one older game that didn't work correctly with the Quest so yes it's possible if it's an older game you may run into problems especially for the earliest VR titles that never received updates.

There is a tech demo that was created by some of the devs that did portal. I forget what it was called, but it did it well with some of the portal humor thrown in

I looked it up Aperture Hand Lab (duh it's in the name). But an absolutely great tech demo-ish type game

Highly recommend Skyrim VR, but also highly recommend getting into the mod scene for that.

Picked up Fallout 4 VR, but my meta quest is having a weird issue where audio isn't coming through. It doesn't do this for any of my games directly from the Meta store, but this steam VR one is. Anyone else having this issue?

Is Doom VFR some older doom game or is that the VR version of Doom 2016?

SkyUi is pretty essential anymore. I also like the roads mod.

Did you make sure in the windows audio task bar that you clicked for sound to go through the headset? It doesn't always switch it

I fixed mine by uninstall then reinstall the PC oculus/ meta software. Restart, then choose the audio default setting to the headset
