I'm not an expert, but I believe a baratza encore would be a better grinder in this price range.

Research first.

Costco has a Capresso one for $99. Not sure how this one is but the Capresson one is pretty solid.

The fresher your grounds are the better your coffee will taste.

Serious question. Is there a much difference in taste when you use a grinder like this vs using the Costco grinder (the one that sits outside the counter area). I love my coffee but how much of a difference am I going to notice?

I purchased this during the Gilt deal last year. It works ok but is prone to error codes. So far turning it off and unplugging seems to work to reset it.

I got this from the Gilt deal too and use it 5-7 days a week and no errors for me so far.

Same experience for me , works great no errors... Got for like 50 bucks or whatever and a free hoodie with gilt bucks

Your average espresso snob might balk at the brand but if you're not super anal you should be fine.... Not sure this is a great price though haven't been in the market since.

I got this for 40$ 3 years ago and used it 1 time a week for cold brew. Super easy to clean, very robust, I wish the grinde size was a little bigger for cold brew but very good. I would recommend it but honestly 140 is very steep..

Costco grinder likely has retention issues (every grinder does, severity is where it all changes), but, for most people using drip coffee, you'll likely notice a slight improvement, but nothing monumental.

If you were doing single brews like pour overs, you'd want to grind before using each day.

Also, the coffee sold at Costco (from my limited experience), is not super fresh, super designer/specialty. While grinding their beans beats a pre-ground, it's likely not going to be life changing for you to do at home grinding if drip brewing.

James Hoffman has a great YouTube channel where he reviews grinders, I'd advise anyone interested in this, to check his videos out!

But to confirm, with bias, encore is a better pick

As soon as you grind the coffee is starts losing flavor so you're better off grinding right before making coffee.

I have a grinder/coffee maker. Big difference in taste when I grind fresh beans on the spot. I hated grinding them far in advance. Also, I keep the beans in a sealed glass container.

I've had my capresso like 8 years. It's epic.
