A note about Walmart return via Fedex option.
Today I received two emails from Walmart. First one reads, "Your refund is on its way. Sorry things didn't work out. We've initiated a refund and wanted to provide a quick overview for you." Then a few hours later, I received a second email "Refund cancellation …Unfortunately, the items we received didn't match your return request. Your return has been canceled, and your original payment method has been charged $XXX.XX again for the items you were refunded for."
I called Walmart customer helpline and was told the exact same thing as the email and to send in the correct item which was impossible because I've already sent them the correct item. Walmart won't tell me what item was received and refused to send back the original item back to me. So my only option left is a credit card chargeback.
Safest return option is to wait in line at Walmart.

As far as credit of the offer is concerned Amex terms and condition says following " Statement Credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 1/31/2014"

I had mistakenly signed up for the Amex Offer thinking it was a discount for shopping at Walmart.
Forgot about it until I read about this.

You were purchasing Walmart+ in anticipation of getting the $40 back from Amex and $50'in Walmart cash.
They offered a 48$ refund and the $50 Walmart cash. Not sure what the issue is. That's a better deal than if you checked out with ur Amex ?
Maybe it is similar to when people use Western Union to receive money.
The $50 Walmart Cash is enough for me.
