Penn is a well known, established brand. The components in the set will be salt water rated, so less chance of rust and corrosion. This is a 10+ year combo if cared for properly.

Thanks, grabbed one for fishing the local lakes. May not use the rod if it's one piece but the reel is a deal by itself.

It should be more than enough. Although I would say get a lightweight rod later with this reel for repeated casting.
