I wonder what the warranty is on this since it is refurbished compared to a new ls11000 which is 3 years

This is a great projector and a great deal. Have not seen this before refurbished. Only omission is 3D but this is a fabulous one.

Are the black levels really that bad on this compared to the 5050?

I'd like to know that as well. I have the 5050 and like it but if at some point I need to switch or upgrade it's good to know.

Worth buying this with a 2 year protection plan vs waiting for it to drop to $3500 new again?

Beware this isn't an Epson Refurb (which comes with 2 yr warranties). This is just Amazon reselling a used Epson projector with no warranty no different than FB marketplace.

You cannot replace the bulb of this, so it is worth knowing how much time was used or what's left.

Also, there's an article about laser projector's brightness diminishes the more you use it. That means a new zero hr laser projector is brighter than a 10,000 hr laser projector.

The good thing about buying USED incandescent projector is that you can replace the bulb.

I was torn between an OLED or this projector during the holiday season. If this had been their factory refurb price I might have started feeling some FOMO.

Damn just bought this new for 3500 but at least got 6 percent back using an Amazon card. This projector is amazing. Had an optoma 4k projector but I could tell it's not that great. Decided to splurge and this one made sense. Ps5 and blue rays look amazing and crisp. Def worth it for renewed

Told myself a while ago that I'd jump on this at the $3k mark. Picked it up with the 2 year protection plan for right around that after tax. Will see how it goes!

Have firmware updates gotten this projector closer to the sony's sharpness with reality creation?

As others pointed out, this isn't a refurbished PJ by Epson so only comes with Amazon's usual refurb warranty (Read through their A2Z coverage if you want to find details since they don't mention it terribly clearly but it looks to be a minimum of 30days.) Considering you cannot replace the light source, this would definitely be worth buying an extended warranty for (or waiting for it to become available refurbished from Epson which includes the mentioned two year warranty..)

Is this any better than my old trusty Epson 5040?

I have the same 5040 Smilie

Yes the LS11000 is better.

However, when I start getting the upgrade itch, I just buy a new bulb for $100. The 5040 is really one of the greatest value projectors ever, in my opinion.

Bought one with the 3 year protection plan. Curious how many hours it has on it, will probably be the deciding factor for me if I keep it.
