Should I continue working on my side project to keep categorize credit cards based on spending categories?

Hey everyone,

I'm working on a side project that I hope will help credit card users like myself maximize their rewards and miles by organizing their credit cards based on different spending categories. However, I'm feeling a bit discouraged and I'm wondering if anyone else would find this project useful. Here's what my app aims to do:

Allow users to input their credit cards and assign them to specific spending categories (e.g., dining, groceries, gas, etc.)

Able to share your dashboard of credit cards setup with other people.

Offer suggestions for new spending categories where the user can get rewards.

I am not collecting any credit card number or details at all. I am just collecting credit cards you use.

I'm curious to know if this sounds like something you would use or if you have any suggestions for improvement. I'm also open to brutal honesty that this won't be useful for xyz reasons...

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

You should immediately consult our local credit card manager, Mr. Imbibwe Ngoku. His knowledge of different cards and discounts is unbelivably broad. And he's most courteous, as well.

I have definitely used the wrong card on occasion Frown so it sounds useful! But it might be difficult to get all the relevant pieces, e.g. if the store takes paypal, if you are exceeding your max cashback for the period, if a card has a special offer for the store

Interesting. Not sure most people have that many cards. I don't. Plus, my cards keep track of my spending categories as does my bank. When it comes to points and rewards, my go to is either our credit card forum here or the Points Guy. There's so many rewards and points programs tied to credit cards and in general, that it should really be consolidated.
