I have this projector and a 120" screen, paid $1499 for it a few years ago. It's a decent budget projector, it replaced an older 1080P epson, HDR is kind of pointless on it tho, and ever since I've upgraded all my TVs to OLED, I haven't really used it except for watching my collection of 3D Blu-ray's. I would recommend it to anyone looking at projectors in this price point, however admittedly I have not researched newer models that are currently available which may or may not outperform it.. do your research, but I've been happy with it for about 3 years. Also, the fan is noticeable but not obnoxious.
This projector replaced my 10 year old Epson 8350. Great picture improvement from 1080p. This thing is so bright I had to tone it down lol. If you do not have light control this should for sure be on your short list - it's a torch! So far I'm very pleased with the purchase.

I'm seeing a lot of reviews with focus issues, is this all units or only some faulty ones?

It's a solid chunk of them though *most* of the focusing issues happen as you use more lens shift (So this is still the projector I expect to buy if it ever drops to 1,000 refurbished.) Also of note it's now this price most everywhere including crutchfield (https://www.crutchfield.com/S-qsK...-3800.html ) and Best buy (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/epso...Id=6366530

Bought this a month ago to replace an Epson 1080P. Have it sitting on a shelf behind the TV. Horizontal and vertical lens shift makes it easy to adjust. Great picture and tons bright. Very happy with purchase.

How noisy is it? Does it warm up a room (S. Florida concern).

Returned mine. Lens shift was awesome...but likely was part of soft pic. Colors were meh. Very underwhelmed. Bought benq 500 laser 4k for way less than this...very happy with it, much better. I guess if you can avoid lens shift and need the lumens this is good. But if you don't really need the lumens keep looking...

How this one compares with ViewSonic PX748-4K? Cheaper, 4000 lumens and 240Hz?

I have this projector running up against a Carada 1.1 96" fixed, tensioned screen.

It has been a really great projector for us. We have excellent light control in our viewing room.

It is plenty bright and clear. I do agree that you should really take the time to line up the projector with the screen. The lens shift is really great and works perfectly. I have it on a shelf inside a cabinet with an open back. Heat has not been an issue.

I didn't notice any softening of the image using the lens shift but I am not really way off on the center so it is very slight.

I will say that the noisiest thing is the auto iris. It is pretty constantly adjusting and you can hear it if you listen.

Fan noise is very quiet and we really don't hear the iris unless it is a very dark scene with low sound. You can hear it then but it isn't nuts. Just there.

Otherwise I think it has been a great projector. We bought ours refurbished from Epson. Zero issues.

I have had 2, one I sent back to Epson due to focus issues, got another from them within 2 months looked better but still have issues with focusing on left side middle, cannot get uniform focus for the life of me and I am using very minimal lens shift which should not make a difference. Very noticeable on XBOX home page etc. Am now looking for either the 5050ub or ls11000 if prices come down.

From Projector Central review:of the benq:

"Low brightness in accurate picture modes"

"Mediocre Contrast"

But they do recommend the unit.
