I have this projector and a 120" screen, paid $1499 for it a few years ago. It's a decent budget projector, it replaced an older 1080P epson, HDR is kind of pointless on it tho, and ever since I've upgraded all my TVs to OLED, I haven't really used it except for watching my collection of 3D Blu-ray's. I would recommend it to anyone looking at projectors in this price point, however admittedly I have not researched newer models that are currently available which may or may not outperform it.. do your research, but I've been happy with it for about 3 years. Also, the fan is noticeable but not obnoxious.
This projector replaced my 10 year old Epson 8350. Great picture improvement from 1080p. This thing is so bright I had to tone it down lol. If you do not have light control this should for sure be on your short list - it's a torch! So far I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Guess I'll just keep hanging onto my sub-$1k Optoma UHD51A. There hasn't been much improvement in the fake 4K projector space in over half a decade (and ultra short throw, where all research got dumped into for Average Joes, would be worse for my setup).

I've had this for 2+ years. Bought it for about $600 net after Black Friday using a couple of Amex Platinum Business $200 credits, some $200 off 800 offers and an 11% referral bonus (gotta love that Dell takes split payments). It sits in our completely light controlled basement theater, projecting to a 144" dual thickness spandex screen from right above our 2nd row seats. Projector is large. I don't notice the noise because its dwarfed by the surround sound volume. Color/clarity is not comparable to the OLED in my family room, but picture is noticeably better than the Optoma HD25e it replaced. We dont use the theater as often as we used to (kids are grown) but it is reliable.
