I urge everyone to talk to a sleep doctor and generally ignore medical advice on here. Some info is right, some is wrong, and frankly it's because of lack of understanding. For example, you wouldn't know that CA is further subdivided into hypocapnic vs nonhypocapnic categories and your body is responding to both in completely different ways (with different treatments and PAP machines needed at times).
This site is a great place to find deals. I couldn't find you a cheaper AirSense 10 and from that perspective this is a great machine. The algorithm for the AutoSet is (practically) the same as the newer AirSense 11, so if you would use the automatic CPAP mode (most OSA patients) you're getting as good of an APAP setup as any other I know of with this machine.

Btw, if you have not tried it, gradually increasing the minimum pressure reduced my AHI from about 4 to less than 2 (and was less than 1 this morning). The increase also made it feel easier to breathe. (Mild CSA).

When I first started CPAP I had EPR turned up to the highest setting (3) for comfort, but that caused lots of central events. I lowered it to 1 and that helped. Now I have turned it off completely and that seems to have helped even more.
Almost all of my apneas are central, and it is sort of managed by CPAP/APAP, but I still wake up a lot of days with AHI in the 20's. My plan is to try VAuto next, and if that does not work move on to BiLevel with a backup rate, and if that fails I will probably end up with ASV.
But the VAuto and BiLevel machines are very expensive and buying them just to test out my theory would be rather expensive. Better to test it with a jailbreak first and then be able to go fight for my best solution with the doctor and insurance.

Yes you do need a prescription. Maybe some people here can help explain the process they went through and the clinic costs. Not sure if a sleep clinic is required as it was years ago.
I'm just suspicious of overly inflated prices for medical devices acquired thru my doctor.
First time using a cpap ever.
