While $168 is absolutely a good deal for a new road-style bike, I don't believe that a steel frame with 7-speed Shimano components would be worth the original $600 price. Just my opinion, not as great of a deal as the price reduction makes it seem.

Steel frame is good for minimizing vibrations! It's kind of a fun vibe

To be fair, a steel frame is probably more robust and expensive than the typical aluminum frame in this range, so it does not seem too far fetched to originally be $600. Though this seems to be a bit heavy at 29 lbs from being steel. This is a 14 speed bike per the site description, 7 gears in the rear and 2 gears in front. TBH as a casual biker / commuter I like less gears, but not a single speed/fixie. I think the bike market was oversupplied lately so more I've noticed more sales lately.

The market was definitely overheated. COVID spiked demand through the ceiling and the manufactures added capacity, but it took them too long, and now the demand dropped and they have excess capacity and inventory.

This is Hi-tensile steel, not cro-moly. It's eh, what comes out the south end of a northbound horse.

If you get tourney and not microshift, the STI levers are almost $100 on their own. I can't think of a reason I'd ever go out of my way to buy them though.

It's only a little bit heavier than the Aversa [giordano.bike]which also appears to be on sale again.

Is this a $600 bike? I doubt it. Quick comparison of the Polygon Strattos S2 priced at $569 retail. This gets you an aluminum frame, a carbon fork with a Non-threaded headset and a Claris 2x8 drivetrain. That said, at $169 this bike is a smoking deal. I would be comfortable spending $300 full retail on it any day and if you want to try out cycling, especially in cities where bikes are "rented" and you can't guarantee the bike will be where you left it.

Buy used, my friend just got an older Allez for $100, 2x9 Tiagra/Sora with carbon seat post and it was barely used. The OP bike would be fine for cruising though but used is the best for budget if you want to get serious

Do NOT deal with this scam company. I ordered a tandem from them that UPS said was damaged in shipping and returned to sender without ever being delivered to me. I emailed them multiple times and they wouldn't respond. I started a chargeback and they finally respond saying they won't refund me since I had started a chargeback.

They then DISPUTED the chargeback and Chase, who I had been with for 15 years, sided with them because the call center people were too dense to understand that while the tracking number showed "delivered," it was delivered back to giordano in California. Giordano will now not answer emails again. I have never dealt which such a scam company before. I canceled my Chase card over it also.

29lb seems crazy heavy for a modern road bike regardless of price point.
