Literally all the 5k monitors on the market are 60hz, maybe 5k monitors just aren't for you.
This is a 5K monitor, not a 4K monitor. 5K is perfect for macOS, obviously, since Apple's Studio Display is also 5K.
Not a bad price, and probably closer to what it should be priced normally.

I don't own this particular monitor but do have a very similar model (Apple Studio Display), and the sharpness is excellent — pixel count is 4x that of a 2560x1440 display and nearly 2x that of a 4k display and it shows, being visibly sharper than even 4k 27" at normal usage distances.

It won't be a gaming powerhouse at 60hz, but should be great for text/code and graphics work and well suited for video work since it can display unscaled 4k video and still have screen room left over for toolbars, timelines, etc.

If buying this it's worth checking credit cards for offers to stack. I've seen Samsung.com cash back offers on both my Chase and Amex cards.

Yes. Reviews suggest the quality is a step down from Apple's and LG's monitors in quality but is still an great option at this price.

Edit: I based my statement on dozens of reviews I read at different websites. People commented about light bleeding, build quality, and more. Those are not general complaints about the 5k LG or Apple monitors. At this price, the potential issues are acceptable for many people.

If I was in the market, I'd buy this at this price.

It will. But you should probably look into how MacOS handles scaling. It is not like Windows, in that it does not scale the entire UI. It may sound complicated but it's not. Just look up MacOS 4k monitor resolution explanation.

Do you know how to get EPP? I used to have it but doesn't work anymore.

I'm not EPP-eligible, so I do not know. I do know when you go to their website, a little window comes up for you to select which EPP sector you are in. You choose one then at checkout it will probably run you through some verify process.

Yes, it is a 27" 5K monitor (218 DPI)... which means it's literally designed for macOS (since 218 DPI is what macOS scales best with).

As with all monitors if the frame rate isn't in the title you have to go deep into the specs to see it's only 60 hertz.

Spending 850 for a monitor regardless of the resolution that's only 60hz is terrible.

Agree. The original price $1599 is Apple ludicrous without the Apple quality.

If Samsung made this monitor a 5K OLED for $1600 then it's justifiable.
