Does anyone know if these are actually smaller than other boxer briefs or not, I always get XL but for every other brand I've gotten XL is waist size 38-40 or 40-42 not 36-38 like these.

For what it's worth I have some Hurley boxer briefs, poly/spandex I got from TJ Maxx within the last couple of months. They are marked XL. They measure 16" across or a size 32".
