Not that great of a deal per the camel, but good if you were in the market.

FYI some public libraries loan these out. I can't see myself using one but for a few projects and buying one would not be worth it, so borrowing one from the library is a great alternative. YMMV

I literally just finished filming a comparison of this and the Topdon TC001. The TC001 is closer in comparison as far as specs are concerned, but it's a plug in unit that goes into your Android device. They have one for iPhones too. The Flir has better imaging as it produces an image overlay. It does a bad job in low light situations but has a light on it that solves that problem.

In the end the Topdon is better though in my opinion. The Flir has refresh issues which causes it to lag. It freezes up (could never pinpoint why it did that). The TopDon has more features such as showing 3 different temperatures. If the Flir could do it, I couldn't figure out how as the manual is hopeless. The Topdon is literally half price and is on sale now for $229.

Knowing that you can rent these is even better though. Definitely didn't know that was an option as most homeowners wouldn't need these long-term.

I was thinking about getting a TC001, but I have Android tablets and iPhones, I wish they can connect to both.

Wow these have gotten expensive. I don't know how I lucked out but I got the Milwaukee version for $100 a few years ago.
