Emotiva has their Memorial Day sale going on.
25% off receivers & processors/15% XPA amps with code: XAMPS15.
Example the MR1L 9.2 receiver for $1199.
If you dont need 2.0 & just need great performance, this is one to consider.
Very good clean power & expands to 11.
XPA amps speak for themselves.

- For this price it should have Analog multi-channel input. Analog multi channel input is great if you are using a gaming PC in your set up for trouble free surround and don't have to deal with terrible windows digital audio driver stack.
- The USB DAC in this is underwhelming.

From a sound quality perspective, this is the "BEST" receiver I have listened to and decided to keep. Does it have its bugs, yes? Do I care enough? No, because the quality it puts out makes all the other things inconsequential to me. The biggest annoyance for me is that Firestick does not have an IR Profile code listed for the MR1, because of which I have to use both the MR1 and the firestick remotes. There does not seem to be a solution for it yet(this is an amazon problem though), unless you can feed the pronto codes for each control into firestick somehow. It has no Dirac, and I don't think I need it after trying out the onkyo Rz50 which I was disappointed about even with all its bells and whistles. I liked this way better for what it offers.
I have the 6700 setup with 11:2, and to be honest, I separated almost all channels to three Emotiva amps. Think just the side surrounds are left on the Denon. The sound quality and base are night and day. The denon requires pre amp for the hight atmos anyway (one pair if you are using both sets of height). I do like the denon for all the AV functionality… and they have been pretty good on software updates to keep things running smooth.

It depends on priorities and ultimately your expectations.
This you probably wouldn't need external amps unless you needed to expand to 13 channels.
Downside are the bugs/glitches and flexibility.
If you go with the 6700 I would recommend getting $20 editor app and look into the new Audyssey One script.

You mean choose mc1 in the firestick integration menu and then use sofabaton to control the Mr1 and the firestick functions ?if so I will get one. A true audio enthusiast on a budget should choose something like the mr1, less convenient but the sound quality will make you feel it less bothersome imo.
Yes and like majaym, get beyond the bugs/glitches.
Now that Dirac has come down to mid level AVRs. Using them as pre-pros gives you a lot of value especially when you can turn off internal amps.
I think you might be in the wrong post, search Samsung.
Yeah. The inferior sound bars are two aisles over...
