If ever there were a party I'd rather not be invited too...... I remember in like 1990 finally be allowed to rent this to see what all the hype was about. It was kind of like watching the Wall from Pink Floyd...sober.

I worked for a well known university.
They would show this each year to the students at Halloween, my guess to keep them out of trouble outside.

You have to experience it with a live audience.

Many theaters will not show it because of the mess left behind by audience participation, as in I see u shiver in anticipation, and everyone knowing the lines of the movie.

It's something else.

People wearing costumes, water guns, and toast, yes toast.
Everyone following the dialog, acting out parts.

For those of us old enough from the 60s, going to a late night picture show, or dusk to dawn with back to back horror movies, it has a different feel.

Taking a date to a drive in was something that you looked forward to.

Oddly most people don't realize that the food was very good, this is before franchise places. In fact for a long time a drive in was the only place to get a pizza, in rural areas.

The snack bar kitchen was laid out like a large diner, at or in the bottom of the screen. Fresh cooked hamburgers, fries, onion rings, pizza, milkshakes.

And it was affordable.

Dude you have no idea what you missed.
