Can anyone provide any feedback on the quality of the refurbished product?

Typically returns for whatever reason. Most in the past I've have gotten had very little power on hours. I suspect they just do a secure erase and test of these. It all comes down to cost difference between these and new whether it's worth it to you. Typically they have whatever manufacturer warranty they have left. Just saw these are off ebay. I prefer to go B&M to get them them, test and if I don't like what I see easy return back to store.

Word on the street is that the NVMe's are going to go up in price substantially soon.

It already is. The NAND cartel has cut production to raise prices.

Yeah I've heard of diplomatic relationships between the Koreas coming to a point in which production could be affected

I got a 970 plus 2tb for $89 just the other week and it was fine, just one drive write in and no hours like they cloned it and decided against keeping it.

Was loose in the box but bubble wrap saved it, they sent only the inside of the retail box.

Open on camera as I've heard horror stories about swapped items slipping by but its probably rare.

980 pro 2tb is gen4 (faster) vs 970 evo plus gen3. Go 980pro

Just for reference, in October-November last year you would have paid, for brand new drives: (after taxes and cash rebate, but not including ymmv credit card bonus)

- about $100 for 2TB 990 pro
- about $180 for 4TB 990 pro
- about $55-$65 for 2TB 970 evo

So yes, the SSD prices have gone up considerably.

If any of you get the 980, make damn sure you update the firmware, otherwise have fun with your mini bricks!

Refurbished,,,,, or rather 'used' SSD's selling for more than brand new prices just a few months ago? Where's the deal? I bought a pair of brand new 2TB "990 Pros" for $99 each back on October 28 from Amazon. There is no way in hell I'm paying $105 for a USED 980 here, this is not a deal!

Only 1 year allstate warranty. I didn't mind 90 days for 10 hour write like new 512 evo+ for $20+ but not sure if i want to risk $105+. On the other hand who RMAs drives with personal data. Is it safe to send them to manufacturers or 3rd parties.
