I got this in 2017 for the same price. I love this thing.
What am I missing here… In my mind wall mount reels have the female side to pull not the male. So with this you have to lug the whole reel to what you need power to? Unless that picture is showing the male end as a pigtail.
Yes… The name of the product states its purpose. This is not a wall mountable reel… think of it as an extension cord with a built in power strip

Yes copper wire surrounded by PVC. Didn't say anything about aluminum. I received the cables and wall mounts today. Feels and looks like a solid product and less costly than other sites. Ill pass on experience once I test it out

Wall mount for storage is my guess

Your points are valid. I think you have a couple options of how to use this. When I looked closer there is a separate wall and pole mount with screw holes on the back of the rig (not pictured) - on it it says - for use as storage when not in use or as a handy mount when in use).

1. You could have this mounted by the power source or some distance away with a short extension and then pull the male end.
2. Attach male end into power source and lug the main rig from the comfortable handle to wherever you need it and mountable to that distant site.

Just ideas …

But I'm happy with the size weight and feel of this item. It feels very sturdy and not cheaply made.

During my research average price for this gauge cable and setup was near $50, maybe $60 for a decent brand. Time will tell.

Note: hard to see but there is a small crank to reel in the cable again neatly. Not the easiest to see in the picture but at around 11:45 to 12 o clock in the picture above.

Will work nicely under my Rectec smoker so I don't have to drag an extension cord out every time. This will run from the smoker to the wall and give me just the right amount of cord each time no matter where I put it (within 50ft). Great deal.
