Professional action videographer and drone pilot here. Just reminding all of GoPro's horrid tendency to overheat, freeze, and ruin once in a lifetime shots. Malfunctioning GoPros have cost me clients and thousands of dollars. I wouldn't trust a GoPro in my business, let alone for treasured personal memories.
The DJI Action 3 and 4 just had a price drop and are infinitely more reliable. I have thousands of recorded hours on four different DJI Action 3s without a single problem. When I used GoPro, the failure rate was about 15% of all shots taken.
There are few greater disappointments than taking off with an FPV drone, nailing a highly choreographed, dangerous action shot, landing, and seeing that the GoPro has frozen.

I can't speak for other or newer models, but I have a hero 8 black from a few generations back and it's been flawless with hundreds of hours of recording in various environments - dusty, humid, snowy/sub-zero, and fully underwater (ocean / saltwater without a case) without any quality or heating issues. Only issue has been minimal connectivity challenges with Bluetooth, but that's been very infrequent. I've had no problem trusting my unit for my wedding and two others, my honeymoon, etc.

Isn't that dependent on the quality that you're recording? If recording 4k or higher, I notice it'll overheat over time. If I record at 1080, I don't have any issues.

Are you from China? My GoPro has been flawless with hundreds of hours recording.

Weird comment. What has China got to do with anything? The company has a pretty well documented history of offering minimal improvements in new generations (and even some instances of tech getting worse). Gopros freezing up and ruining footage isn't exactly uncommon. There is a reason why their stock is in the toilet.

Extra 70 is worth it.and you can always return almost anyhing any anytime to costco we unbelievable return policy. On the ither hand We don't know why that open box go pro is returned. It is risky to buy openbox.

Most likely this is identical to the new one so for me this is the better deal. It's not some delicate thing where opening the box and getting a smudge on it does anything to lower the value. If it's not as expected then I wouldn't expect any problems with a return.
